KIRIN® INDUSTRIES is proud to announce that ALLYPAN® has been named a finalist in the Product Innovation Award category of the 2026 Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia National Awards.
HVIA selected KIRIN Industries and ALLYPAN® as one of five finalists in a category recognising member organisations that have designed, developed or applied innovative products, technologies or systems with real-world benefits for the freight and heavy vehicle industry.
Lightweight innovation focused on usable payload
In its finalist announcement, HVIA described ALLYPAN® as an Australian-designed lightweight aluminium pantech body system that uses structural aluminium components and honeycomb panels to reduce body tare.
HVIA highlighted the approximately 440 kg reported body weight for a typical six-pallet ALLYPAN® configuration. This is particularly relevant to vehicles operating at 4.5 tonnes GVM, where body and equipment weight can significantly limit the freight a vehicle can legally carry.
Reducing the body’s own mass increases the proportion of the vehicle’s permitted gross mass available for payload, without increasing the vehicle’s GVM. Final body mass and payload always depend on the chassis, body dimensions, options, equipment and completed vehicle specification.
Australian design and local manufacturing control
ALLYPAN® has been developed around KIRIN’s focus on lightweight construction, practical fleet operation and local manufacturing capability. KIRIN owns dedicated extrusion tooling for key components within the proprietary body system, with key structural aluminium components locally extruded to KIRIN specifications.
This control supports continued product development and allows body dimensions, access arrangements, internal layouts and equipment integration to be configured around different vehicle and operating requirements—while the proprietary engineering behind the system remains protected.
Recognition among Australian heavy vehicle innovators
The 2026 Product Innovation Award finalists also include Jamieson, Protran Solutions, Volvo Trucks Australia and WHG Technologies. KIRIN congratulates every finalist recognised across the 2026 HVIA National Awards.
The national award winners will be announced at the HVIA Gala Dinner on Thursday, 3 December 2026 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
